My Husband is Completely Oblivious

I had a hair appointment yesterday while Beefcakes was at work and Miss A was at Mommy's Day Out.  It was sweet, sweet Mommy time.  Anyway, I got a little froggy while I was there and when my wonderful stylist asked me what I wanted to do I told her to surprise me.  My only stipulation was that I still needed to be able to pull my hair back.  Kids have sticky fingers.  Sticky fingers pull hair.  And it hurts so bad that it brings tears to your eyes.

An hour later and 7 inches less of hair I left the salon feeling like a new woman.  My head felt lighter.  I had a spring in my step.  I kept running my fingers through my hair and was pleasantly surprised when my hair ended much sooner than I thought it would.  It was an obvious change and felt good.  Hell, even Anna knew something was different when I picked her up from school.  She kind of gave me the hairy eye until she realized that I was her mommy.  Then she came running.  (I melt!)

I decided to see if Beefcakes would notice without me telling him.  He came home from work and didn't seem to notice.  I thought I would give it some time.  So, we ventured out for dinner.  On our way to dinner, we had a conversation about my hair appointment.  He still didn't notice.  We ate dinner, sitting across from each other.  And he STILL didn't notice.  I'm thinking to myself - either 7 less inches of hair isn't that noticeable or he is just completely oblivious to everything around him.  I'm going to let you decide.  Allow me to show you a little before and after:

Photobucket

Please excuse the green tint that's going on in the left picture.  The camera was doing some funky things.  My hair wasn't really green tinged.  Well, one time it did turn green after I had a little run in with some chlorine.  That was a few years ago though.  And don't mind the 'Facebookesque kissyface self-shot profile picture' on the right.  I was trying my best to look super duper sexy.  I think I just look constipated.  To my knowledge, I was not.  I know you were all worried.

Beefcakes, if you are reading this - you should probably notice that my hair looks drastically different and I'm now the official trophy wife that you've always wanted... You're welcome.  You should also know that if you want to make your way out of the doghouse you should come home today with flowers.  Don't cheap out either.  And I'll be expecting a foot massage.  Right after you finish cooking dinner, doing the dishes, and putting the baby to bed.  I guess it's your choice.  I'll have sheets on the couch if you decide to go against the recommendations.  It's your call.

  1. Your hair looks awesome! I think all men are born oblivious. I changed my hair color once and my husband didn't even notice. Or, maybe I've changed it so often that he's just given up on commenting now.

  4. The differences are totally noticeable to any woman but for men, they don't see anything. I usually walk in the salon and tell my stylist to do whatever. Your hair looks good. Hope he notices soon.

  5. I follow you through email, and I was laughing and nodding my head the whole time I read. My husband didn't notice when I got mine cut super short and dyed red a few months ago. Completely oblivious. His mom did notice... and when she said something he looked at me like I just fell off a plane or something... I like your last paragraph. I should have thought of that... LOL.

  6. Wow. I don't know how your hair became unnoticeable. That is a drastic change. Your haircut looks very nice though. I liked the messages you sent for your husband to read.

  8. Well thank you all!! I'm loving my new hair! It's so easy! I could not believe he didn't notice. He felt stupid when I finally pointed it out. And I'm happy to report that he came home this evening with flowers in hand! What a 'good' husband. lol

  9. This is my first time reading your blog. I saw it on Tootie Foodie's blog and just the name alone got my attention b/c I feel pretty "unglamorous" most of the time. I love this post b/c it totally sounds like my house! Your way of telling the story just cracked me up, too! Anyway, your hair looks great and way to go, "Beefcakes", with the flowers. Points for him!

  10. Well thank you!! I'm blushing from such a nice comment! I constantly feel unglamorous - it's either from how I look or how I parent. It's never 'good enough', right? lol.

  13. Love the cut! Men ARE oblivious. My boys are following in their dad's footsteps with not noticing. *Sadness* lol
Do you think he'd notice if you did a drastic color? Like red??? Try it! :)
